Problem
Synesthesia is a physiological phenomenon where one sense triggers another. Explaining this condition was the easy part, getting people to experience it was the hard part. Was it a coloring app? A music app? A social media? Well the only solution was for it to be a little mix all three.

Purpose
Many people can see with their eyes, but there are some people who can see through sound. Chromesthesia is when sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color through shapes and movement. The goal of this project is to show what this experience is like and give people an opportunity to experience it in a way themselves.
This is the sister-project to “The Color of Sound.”

Name, Logo and App Icon
With thousands of apps now a days, and various coloring apps at that, having something that sticks out wasn’t easy. So I took a survey on what app icons people would most likely click on if they saw it on the App Store.
Coming up with a name consisted of comparing art and music terms. I wanted something that wasn’t overused and common like harmony, tone etc. And while listening to Coldplay’s album “Music of the Spheres” one of their songs is titled Coloratura and it finally clicked.
With those results I did more research on musical and artistic imagery and came up with the whole visual concept.
