Problem
Synesthesia is a physiological phenomenon where one sense triggers another. Since I was born I’ve this physiological condition or ability that no one has ever heard of or truly understood. And those who do have it don’t really know others or have anything to showcase this ability for.

Purpose
Many people can see with their eyes, but there are some people who can see through sound. Chromesthesia is when sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color through shapes and movement. The goal of this project is to show what this experience is like and give people an opportunity to experience it in a way themselves.

Site Style
What initially started as an informational yet fun book concept, turned into a website far into the process. After gathering all my information and imagery, I was presented with the idea and problem of turning an informational site to reach more people. You can view the original book cover ideas on the right.
After researching various websites and ways I can go about it creatively, I found that story-telling sites had flow that went great with the way I wanted to tell my story and information.
Behind the Wordmark
For the logo, I really wanted the wordmark to be rhythmic, lively, playful and inviting. I went through various fonts, but none came close to what I wanted. I found one that was close so I ended up sketching out different ways I could alter the front and came up with the following sketches.
Using the font I found, I manipulated it in various ways to try and find a form that worked with what I wanted.

A further breakdown
- Lively and dynamic through the wavy flourishes of the “L”, “S”, and “D” and through the ligature of the “HE.”
- Bold through the use of all caps
Playful through the interaction between the “L” and “O”s, “L” and “U”, and the “of” above the “S”
Promos
I couldn’t create a website without having something to promote it. I knew I wanted to use imagery from the types of visuals people have with synesthesia. So, with that I created a few different variations of posters that could ideally be placed or posted anywhere.

Kaleidoscope
Even though people sometimes associate taste with texture, it's not the same as seeing a burst of color in the form of shapes though it can be similar.

Movement / Lines
Smell is associated with memories that they can visualize, easily confusing with potential synesthesia but synesthetes don't see full imagery.

Clusters
Certain sounds can be associated with colors due to their context i.e nature sounds sounding green, but for synesthetes it doesn't usually coincide like that.
